Should you train at maximum heart rate?

The short answer is YES! About once a week.

Max heart rate workouts improve your VO2 max, or your heart’s ability to pump blood more efficiently, and this is directly correlated to overall longevity. Like ANY other muscle, your heart needs to be worked hard to stay STRONG, and improving your VO2 max through high intensity exercise is the best way to do this. While lower intensity exercise also improves your VO2 Max, high intensity exercise is the best method. I encourage incorporating 1 interval style cardio session into your fitness routine a week.

Here’s a great example:
1 mile easy jog warmup
10X 60 seconds all out, 60 seconds easy
1 mile cooldown jog

Give it a shot! And keep working your heart
