If you’re anything like me, you value daily exercise AND maintaining and excelling at your daytime job. Here’s the GREAT news: you CAN do both. They’re not mutually exclusive! In fact, prioritizing your health has shown to increase mental/brain performance and even enhance your success at work. So here are some tips:
- Develop a sleep ROUTINE! Having consistent sleep and wake times has shown to better your overall energy, boost mental and physical performance, and provide you more autonomy.
- Prepare AHEAD of time. I wake up early and grind out my workout (and I love it), but I wake up prepared to do so each morning. Whether you’re a morning or evening workout fan, be prepared: pack a bag, lay out your clothes, get to bed early, etc..
- Identify barriers and find ways around them! If time is a barrier, establish a routine or take your lunch to exercise. If convenience is a barrier, find at-home workouts you can do quickly, etc..
- I highly encourage you to fit exercise into your MORNING. It’s been proven that when you workout early, you’re more disciplined throughout the day, have better energy and have it crossed off the list, avoiding post work “dread.”
- Set EXCUSES aside. There will always be reasons you don’t want to workout. Differentiate excuses from valid reasons
- Realize that when you move your body, your performance in every area of life increases.Health=wealth, so PRIORITIZE it.
- Choose an activity you ENJOY! This makes it so much easier to plan effectively.
